Abstract

Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) also known as Bluetooth Smart is a technology targeting low cost, low power wireless communications within medium or short range which can be used for indoor positioning by scattering BLE sensor devices across various locations of a particular venue. The advantage of this approach is that it can operate efficiently in indoor locations, where smart-phones or tablets are not able to pickup reliable GPS signals. The proposed system will utilize indoor positioning and location based services using BLE for personalizing and enhancing customer experience. As a proof of concept, this system will be implemented for bookstores and libraries. In addition to this, the system will also provide customer statistics to the Service Providers enabling them to make Business Decisions accordingly.
